The characters

Here is a list of the main characters in the book to give a quick insight about them....

Mr Woodhouse - Emmas father...  He worries alot about other people and seems some times to be very unselfish. On the other hand though he doesnt like people to become independant.

Mr Elton - Is a gallant and sentimental man who like to say exaggerated things.. such as about Harriets painting but this can be very annoying for some people

Miss Bates - spends all her time looking after her mother and has no life of her own. she loves to talk because she is very lonely and although she is annoying we feel sorry and empathy for her.

Frank Churchill - In the story we have two different impressions about Frank. Emma thinks he is good looking and intelligent but Mr Knightley sees him as a spoiled little boy who has been given everything he wants by his rich family and that he only thinks of dancing haircuts and romance
